BURNLEY will face a different sort of challenge in a battle of the defences against West Brom, after a stunning 2-3 win away at Chelsea giving them full confidence.

The clarets boss Sean Dyche lined up with a five man midfield, but relied on decisive wide play, with a variety of dangerous crosses from overlapping full backs as their main attacking outlet in providing for the talented Sam Vokes who bagged a brace, seeing off Chelsea with a familiar breed of Dyche's compact counter-attacking football.

This was a display far away from last season's miserable away record- relying on matches at Turf moor to their advantage.

Burnley will venture into this game on a high, knowing that Turf moor was a tough ground to visit last campaign, with Liverpool facing a stubborn defence upon their arrival in a 2-0 defeat back in August 2016.

However, they will need to adjust their style for this Saturday, when they face an ever tighter, stubborn and industrious West Brom side who under Tony Pulis's demanding persona will prove to be hard work for Dyche's men.

West Brom have spent wisely, the recent acquisition of Gareth Barry makes perfect sense, he will fit neatly beside an array of workhorses, all with the same aim, keeping a clean sheet.

The Baggies come into this game after a 1-0 win over Bournemouth, where the set piece masters again took advantage of their speciality with a headed goal from debutant Ahmed Hegazy, the Egyptian adding to the full stock of heading ability.

Immensely gifted Jay Rodriguez was lively against Bournemouth, and looks to bring plenty of technical ability following his £12million move from Southampton. His season heavily relies upon staying fit.

West Brom, however will be keen to end a poor streak of way defeats, and will view corners as an area to pose the most threat.

It will be interesting to see the midfield battle, where there is likely to be a scrappy spectacle, due to the lack of reliance on possession-based football from both sides.
