Hull City reject £10million offer from Premier League Burnley for midfielder Sam Clucas
Sean Dyche's Clarets reportedly return to the Tigers with double their previous bid but are still rebuffed as Championship promotion hopefuls stand firm
HULL CITY have reportedly rejected a £10million bid from Burnley for Sam Clucas.
The Tigers rebuffed the offer from the Premier League Clarets on Tuesday as they aim to keep hold of their midfield star.
Newcastle United have been linked with the 26-year-old all summer.
However, Sky Sports claim that it is Burnley who are pushing ahead in their pursuit.
Sean Dyche's side are already believed to have submitted an bid of £5m last week, which was rebuffed by the Championship outfit.
That has led to Turf Moor chiefs returning with a figure double their previous valuation.
But Hull are desperate to keep hold of the former Chesterfield and Mansfield ace following the departures of Harry Maguire and Andy Robertson.
New boss Leonid Slutsky is bracing himself for further interest but would love to keep the Lincoln-born player at the club.
West Brom are another side to have been linked with a swoop for Clucas.
Clucas has enjoyed a dramatic rise through the football pyramid and was one of Hull's best performers in the top-flight last season.
He began his career at Lincoln City before joining Hereford United in 2011.
After a two-year spell there he moved closer to his hometown to join Mansfield Town for a season before he went on to sign for Chesterfield.
After an impressive 2014/15 campaign his talents were spotted by the Tigers and they swooped to sign him in a £1.3m deal.
Clucas has gone on to make 83 league appearances for the Humberside outfit and netted nine goals.
