Captain Gary Cahill marked his first league start since succeeding John Terry as the club's new leader by being sent off for a bad challenge after just 14 minutes.

And things got even worse for the London side when they conceded three first half goals to leave their own fans stunned.

Wales striker Sam Vokes notched a double while Stephen Ward struck an excellent goal as Sean Dyche's men romped into an easy lead.

And the Chelsea fans left the players in no doubt of their feelings as they jeered and booed the team into the dressing room after an alarming first 45 minutes of the season.

The stunning scoreline at Stamford Bridge was greeted with laughter and mocking on social media as people queued up to boot the boot in on the champions.
