Liverpool release statement reiterating Philippe Coutinho will NOT be sold this summer amid Barcelona and PSG interest

Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield and the Reds are adamant they will keep hold of him

LIVERPOOL have released a statement to reiterate their determination to keep hold of Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with moves to Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, following Neymar's sensational £198million move to France.

But in a bid to ward off any further enquiries, the Reds said in a statement: "We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.

"The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes."

The Reds were given a boost after it was reported Barcelona may not be able to afford both Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele.

Liverpool reportedly rejected Barca’s £90m bid for Coutinho, who has been ruled out of the Reds’ Premier League opener against Watford.

Barcelona are looking to replace Neymar and reinvest the £198million fee they got for the winger.

But Jurgen Klopp insists Coutinho, along with all other top talent at Anfield, is going nowhere.

Klopp told Sky Germany: “Liverpool is not a club that has to sell players.

“That is set in stone. So what they pay in the end doesn’t matter.

“From a financial standpoint, there is no price limit to let him go or a price that we are ready to give in.

“Our goal is to have the best possible team. So we want to keep our guys and add new ones. That is our plan.

“Today no player on the planet is untouchable.

“But a transfer is also a question of timing and if you have the opportunity and the need to react to such a transfer.

“Also you have to ask, if you have the time to react.

“But just because of one request of one club, we don’t have to think about that. We are not in that situation.”
