Carabao Cup chaos as John Salako gets confused in Sky Sports mix-up over second round draw as West Ham face Cheltenham Town

Blackburn face Burnley while QPR face Brentford and Crystal Palace host Ipswich Town

THE DRAW for the second round of the Carabao Cup was marred by confusion live on Sky.

John Salako got very confused about who was at home as the draw, televised live from the Sky studios, descended into a TV car crash.

Four times Salako got muddled, and it got even more confusing when West Ham were drawn to face Cheltenham Town.

NOT PICKED YOUR FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM YET? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Slaven Bilic's men are unable to play at the London Stadium due to the World Athletic Championships, and need time to get their ground back in shape for football.

The Hammers were granted special dispensation from the Football League to play their tie away, along with Newport County, however John Salako and presenter Julian Warren clearly didn't know that.

Former Crystal Palace winger Salako pulled out a red ball and believed that signified an away tie.

However Warren told him the tie would be a home clash for West Ham in a confusing state of affairs.

To make matters worse, that was the FOURTH time in a row Salako made the mistake of calling a home tie an away tie in an embarrassing live mix-up.

The embarrassing errors started when he called out Brentford's number two ball, followed by a white ball which signifies an away match, and stated 'home' before Warren was forced to intervene on his mistake.

Brentford tweeted: "We will be at home to QPR," before quickly posting again "Or we might be away, we're not quite sure."

At one point Salako said Norwich would be away to Charlton, then he appeared to realise that match and the previous three ties had been drawn the wrong way around.

A number of affected clubs in the Southern Section, including Norwich, Charlton, Ipswich and Crystal Palace, all tweeted about their confusion.

Watford initially reported an away tie against Bristol City, as per the draw, only to amend it to a home one.

In another exciting match-up, Newcastle United play four-time champions Nottingham Forest at St James' Park, with Rafa Benitez looking to become the first Magpies manager to win the League Cup.

While Crystal Palace host Ipswich Town, with Swansea City face a daunting away tie against MK Dons.
