Danny Rose is only saying what Spurs fans are thinking – Tottenham supporters react to defender’s hard-hitting interview

England left-back praised by some Tottenham fans for speaking the truth but others are left fuming over claims the club needs to do more for their stars

DANNY ROSE'S criticism of Tottenham has been defended by supporters - who claim he is only saying what they have all been thinking.

England star Rose has delivered a stinging rebuke of the club's transfer business in an explosive interview with SunSport on the eve of the new Premier League season.

The full-back, who says he is determined to get paid "what I am worth", added that he is desperate to win medals in his career and wants Spurs to match his ambition by signing some big-name players.

But he also warned chairman Daniel Levy to start paying the players the wages they deserve or the lure of big deals at other clubs could be too hard to turn down.

Rose's hard-hitting views have been welcomed by many supporters who share his frustration at the complete lack of business the club have done over the summer.

But other fans have reacted with fury at his public stance, with some claiming he has disrespected the club with the manner of his complaints.

Social media has been awash with fans on either side of the fence making their feelings clear.

And former Manchester United star Gary Neville has been left stunned at the honest interview the left-back has given.

United are one of the clubs who have been keen to sign the £40million-rated 27-year-old, but Neville is unsure the player has made the best decision going public with his frustrations.

He tweeted: "WTF is Danny Rose thinking?

"Imagine walking into the training ground and not being fit for months and months. Morning lads!!!"

But @TheRealJohnnyG_ hit back: "Danny Rose might actually have done us a massive favour in speaking out. He's just voiced what most Spurs fans are thinking."

And @GlennSpursFC added: "What Danny Rose is saying is what any sane minded fan would say."

But the outspoken views have not gone down well across the board, which many critical of Rose for choosing to go public with his views.

Some have said the club should cash in on the left back now, with Chelsea also showing a strong interest in signing him this summer.

@ImmortalTanz wrote: "Danny Rose don't let the door hit you on the way out. Snake #Disrespectful."

And @richierabs said: "Disrespectful interview from Danny Rose. Clearly been poorly advised. So many other ways of dealing with this. The timing is horrendous."

Having sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £52m earlier in the summer, Spurs have had no interest in allowing a second England left-back leave this summer.

Contact from United has been quickly re-buffed, and Chelsea have found a similar response when they tried to discuss the potential for a deal being done.

But the frank views of the player could change the dynamic at the club, with Rose enjoying a close relationship with manager Mauricio Pochettino until now.

However, it is unclear how Pochettino will view the sight of Rose's frustrations being shared into such a high-profile manner.

And Spurs chairman Levy will not be happy at the way the criticism has put the focus on his financial strategy at the club.

If Spurs were to decide the time was right to cash in on the left-back, Levy will not be bullied into letting him go without a buying club paying top price.
