Arsenal take on Leicester City in the season-opener on Friday night, before 14 clubs kick-off their campaign on Saturday August 12.

Two clubs doing so are Tony Pulis' West Brom and Eddie Howe's Bournemouth.

The Baggies will be hoping to build on their impressive 2016-17 season - finishing tenth.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth went one better, finishing ninth in a superb campaign.

West Brom have made the impressive signing of former Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez, while Bournemouth have brought in ex-Chelsea duo Asmir Begovic and Nathan Ake, as well as England man Jermain Defoe.

Fact me

  • West Brom have enjoyed just one win in their four Premier League meetings with Bournemouth (D1 L2), with that victory coming last time out at the Hawthorns in February (2-1).
  • On home soil, the Baggies have lost just one of their seven league meetings with Bournemouth (W4 D2), via a 2-1 defeat in December 2015 in the Premier League.
  • Gareth McAuley has netted two goals in his four Premier League games against the Cherries; against no other side has he scored more in the competition (also 2 v Everton, Hull and Liverpool).
  • West Brom have won just twice in 11 previous opening day Premier League games (D3 L6) but did beat Crystal Palace on opening day in 2016-17.
  • The Baggies haven’t won successive opening day league fixtures since 1992.
  • Bournemouth have lost both of their opening day fixtures in the Premier League, losing 1-0 to Tim
  • Sherwood’s Aston Villa in 2015 and Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United 3-1 last year.
  • This will be the only meeting between two British managers on the opening day of the Premier
  • League this season, as Tony Pulis takes on Eddie Howe. On the last six occasions this has occurred on the opening day, the away manager has been victorious, most recently Pulis away to Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace last season.
  • Last season, Bournemouth conceded 38 away Premier League goals, with only Watford (39) and Hull (45) conceding more; in total, the Cherries conceded 67 times but finished ninth, the most by a side to finish in the top half of the top-flight since Newcastle in 1985-86 (72).
  • Cherries striker Josh King has scored 13 Premier League goals in 2017 – only Romelu Lukaku (15) and Harry Kane (21) have found the net more often this calendar year.
  • Since scoring a hat-trick of headers against Swansea at the Hawthorns in December last year, Salomon Rondon has failed to score a home Premier League goal in 906 minutes of action for the Baggies.
