Manchester City loan three more players to Girona as they show their close bond with the La Liga new boys
Pep Guardiola's £10m summer buy Douglas Luiz, Marlos Moreno and Aleix Garcia follow Pablo Maffeo to the promoted Catalans
MANCHESTRER CITY have loaned three more senior players to Girona for the whole season as they strengthen their links with the La Liga new boys.
Colombia striker Marlos Moreno, new £10million Brazilian Douglas Luiz and midfielder Aleix Garcia have followed full-back Pablo Maffeo to the Catalans.
Luiz, 19, is tipped as a Premier League star of the future after signing from Vasco da Gama this summer.
Etihad director of football Txiki Begiristain told www.mancity.com: "Girona will give Douglas the perfect opportunity to develop at the top level of the European game."
Moreno, 20, spent last season on loan with Deportivo La Coruna.
And Spanish 20-year-olds Garcia and Maffeo threatened to make a first-team breakthough with City last term but are moving temporarily to get a season of regular football.
City's ever-closer bond with Girona in recent years will include a friendly in Catalonia on August 15.
By then Etihad chief Pep Guardiola will begin to know if his pre-season focus on strengthening his defence will pay off.
Real Madrid's Danilo, Spurs' England star Kyle Walker and Monaco's Frenchman Benjamin Mendy have arrived in the most expensive spree on full-backs in Prem history - around £125m in total.
