Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld reveals there has been absolutely no progress on a new contract at the North London club

TOTTENHAM star Toby Alderweireld reveals there has been absolutely no progress on a new contract at the club.
The Belgian international, 28, was hoping to double his £50,000-a-week wages this summer to bring him in line with the club's other top earners.
Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris are just two of three players to break the £100,000 per week barrier at the North London club.
Alderweireld is under contract at Tottenham until the summer of 2019 - but has revealed talks regarding a new deal have never come to fruition.
When asked about his current contract situation, the Belgian defender said: “No news that I know of, so nothing… zero.”
Centre-back Alderweireld was part of the Premier League's best back-four last season, alongside Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker.
The latter sensationally swapped Spurs for Manchester City in a £50million deal - and will now face-off against Tottenham in a pre-season friendly in Nashville.
On facing his former team-mate, Alderweireld said: “Everybody is sad that he left.

“He is one of the best full-backs in the world and unfortunately he goes to another [Premier League] team, but we have to focus ourselves to win the game.”
Alderweireld has been at Tottenham since 2015, going on to make 68 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring five times.
Prior to his time in London, the Belgium ace turned out for Ajax and Atletico Madrid, before a season on loan at Southampton.
