MANCHESTER UNITED have been put on red alert as Renato Sanches reveals he wants to leave Bayern Munich.

The Portugal midfielder, 19, claims he is not happy with his first season at the German giants and wants a change sooner rather than later.

According to German outlet Bild, Sanches said: "Personally, I am not satisfied with my first year in Munich.

"Of course, I'd like to play more.

"That's why I would like to change and go to a club that can give me more minutes."

Sanches added that he would consider a move to AC Milan, who have been chasing the Euro 2016-winner all summer.

He claimed: "AC Milan is an interesting option.

"If the opportunity arises and the clubs can agree, I would like to see them.

"I am now on the China tour with FC Bayern, but after that we will get together in Munich and hopefully one find solution.

"I'm young, I want and I have to play a lot. I think the chance to do so is greater in Milan than in Munich."

However, Man United have been long-time admirers of Sanches, with Jose Mourinho particularly keen to land his compatriot.

In fact, the Special One claimed had he taken over at Old Trafford a few weeks earlier, Sanches would be a United player now, rather than opting for Bayern.

The Portugal international only joined the German outfit a year ago in a £30million deal.

Sanches made only 17 Bundesliga appearances last season, failing to score a single goal as he struggled to adapt to his first home post-Benfica.

The midfielder only played one season in the first team at the Portuguese club before shining on the international stage in France a year ago.

Last week, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hinted Sanches would be let out on loan – or even sold this summer.

He claimed: He is a player who needs to play regularly.

“So if we feel he is not going to get enough game time, then we will loan him out, or maybe even sell him.

"Last season, particularly after the winter break, he didn't get enough appearances.

"That wasn't because of the coach, it was because of [Sanches] himself."
