Romelu Lukaku says it was Jose Mourinho and NOT Paul Pogba who convinced him to join Manchester United
The £75m man was spotted out on holiday with Pogba in Las Vegas, but insists it was the gaffer who turned his head
ROMELU LUKAKU insists it was Jose Mourinho who convinced him to join Manchester United after completing his £75million move from Everton.
The deal was completed while Lukaku was on holiday with United midfielder Paul Pogba, but Lukaku has said the Frenchman played no part in helping make up his mind.
Chelsea were believed to be rivalling United for the transfer of Lukaku before the powerful frontman opted for a move to Old Trafford.
Speaking about the role Pogba might have played, Lukaku said: "We were just on holiday together.
"At the end of the day I had to make my own choices.
He then went on to describe how "grateful" he was that Mourinho wanted to sign him.
Lukaku added: "It was the conversation I had with the manager that really convinced me the most, the plans and how he wanted to rebuild the club and he wanted me to be part of it.
"I am grateful for the chance."
The Belgian striker has some big boots to fill.
