INTER MILAN boss Luciano Spalletti has warned Manchester United to get real with their offer for Ivan Perisic or forget trying to sign him.

United have been chasing the Croatian winger all summer after Jose Mourinho highlighted him as one of his top targets.

But the club have been frustrated in their attempts to tempt Inter into selling the midfielder with the Italian club refusing to cash in on the cheap.

The Serie A side have insisted only a bid meeting their £48million valuation will be enough to give the go-ahead for a deal to be done.

And until now United have been reluctant to pay more the £40m for the 28-year-old wide-man.

Inter boss Spalletti insisted on taking his unsettled player with him on the club's pre-season tour to China and Shanghai.

And he has told United that no deal will be done unless they pay up.

Spalletti said: "He is a fantastic player and if his future is totally up to me, I will definitely keep him.

"However, if an offer comes and the club are satisfied with the money, which will be used to invest in and strengthen the team, he could leave."

United have so far signed only two players over the course of the close season, with Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku now out in America on their pre-season tour.

Last week Mourinho complained that he was not happy with the club's transfer business over the course of the summer.

He had given executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward a full list of targets before going off on holiday, and wanted at least four new players in by the time the squad reported back for pre-season training.

But Woodward has again struggled to get some of the deals over the line as he finds it difficult to reign in the valuations other clubs have put on their stars.

Perisic is still a player Mourinho is very keen on, and he is putting pressure on Woodward to deliver the signings he wants.

But whether United would be willing to meet the Inter valuation for a 28-year-old remains to be seen.
