Mourinho is set to start a host of youngsters for the game - a dress-rehearsal of next month's Super Cup clash in Skopje - including Demetri Mitchell.

The United boss said: "I keep saying we can’t have better training sessions than playing against the best teams.

"But more important than the results is the work, is the minutes I give to every player, to try different things.

"We play three matches in three different systems, three at the back, four at the back with one or six in front and the last match with the No10, we are trying different things, we are working.

"The players are getting their form step-by-step and tomorrow obviously, you say a test, it's probably the right word.

"But I prefer to say the experiences, for us as a team and those who didn’t play the last match will play.

"I'm going to play Timo Fosu-Mensah, Axel, Darmian, Mitchell, I’m going to play other players and give rest to some players because pre-season is not for accumulation and some of them played 75 minutes against City.

"So now it's time for others."

Mourinho also added he is planning to split his minutes at the goalkeeping spot, with David De Gea and Sergio Romero set to play a half each.

The Special One added: "Tomorrow I play Romero, David, 45-45."
