JOSE MOURINHO has “100 per cent” GURANTEED Manchester United fans that David De Gea is going nowhere.

The Manchester United manager has had to fend off interest from Real Madrid this summer as the club did two years ago when the Spanish giants almost signed him.

And Mourinho said: "I can guarantee that he’s not going this season, that I can, and my feeling is it will be very difficult for him to go.

"Because he’s a very honest boy, very straight.

"I always have this feeling of when a player has a desire to go I don’t like to stop players to go because in the end you don’t get what you expect from them if they want to move and they don’t.

"So we open it and then they decided to close and I think the feeling from him is very very good.

"I see him very happy and focused and working better than ever so for me 100 per cent he stays with us."

De Gea almost left United on deadline day in August 2015 but problems with the paperwork stopped the deal going through.

Mourinho also reckons Sergio Romero has improved De Gea and vice versa.

The Argentina international stopper is considered the Premier League's best back-up keeper and played all of United's Europa League campaign including the final in Copenhagen.

Joel Pereira has also played during United's pre-season tour of the United States and has impressed Mourinho with his stature and potential as a future Portuguese No1.

The Red Devils boss added: "I’m impressed with Sergio but I’m also impressed with David.

"I think the best thing that could happen to David was the way Romero played last season, because until then David was clearly a safe man, a safe choice and after what Romero did last season David thinks he’s training in another way.

"David is much better now than before and he has amazing conditions to progress. So to have both at the level, they can be is fantastic for me and it gives me the chance to choose the players in relation to the moment,  and in relation to the qualities of the opponent because obviously they are different goalkeepers.

"But both are very good and for Joel [Pereira] to be learning with them and playing with us is good. Tomorrow I play Romero and David, 45-45. It is not just them three but also Sam Johnstone showed at Villa that he is a good goalkeeper with potential, so we are really good in goalkeepers."
