The Red Devils are aiming to beat Everton in the race for the Trotters' highly-rated goalkeeper

MANCHESTER UNITED are plotting a surprise swoop for Bolton’s England youth keeper Jake Turner.

They see the 18-year-old as a potential No 1 choice in the next few years.

Wanderers have only just put Turner on a full-time contract and he was on the bench last season.

United boss Jose Mourinho wants to coach him for the future at Old Trafford.

Everton also rate Turner highly, but United have the lead in the race.

Bolton will take the biggest offer.

United have been tipped off by some of the FA coaching staff about the quality of the Cheshire-born Under-18 cap.

And they are poised to pounce before Turner starts a senior game.

Bolton need money so boss Phil Parkinson can boost his promoted side’s Championship hopes.

He wants to snap up midfield dynamo Jason Lowe after he left neighbours Blackburn.

Lowe, 25, was skipper at Rovers in their relegation campaign and they let him go in May to cut his wages from their payroll.

Bolton are prepared to offer him more than £500,000-a-year despite their financial troubles.

Parkinson sees Lowe as a replacement for Jay Spearing — who failed to agree a new contract — and hopes to sort out a deal in the next couple of days.

Nottingham Forest are also watching.
