Tottenham legend Teddy Sheringham has been appointed manager of Indian Super League team
TEDDY SHERINGHAM has been appointed boss of Indian Super League champions Atletico de Kolkata.
The Manchester United legend, 51, has been out of work since being sacked by Stevenage 17 months ago.
Ex-England striker Sheringham won the 1999 Treble with United, and also starred for Tottenham, West Ham, Portsmouth, Millwall and Nottingham Forest.
He said: "I am excited to be joining ATK, and can't wait to get started. The Indian Super League seems like a great place to follow your football dreams and ambitions."
ATK are part owned by Atletico Madrid, and have won the ISL title twice in the last three years.
Club owner Sanjiv Goenka said: "I am glad to welcome Teddy Sheringham to the ATK family, and strongly believe it will be an enriching experience for him and the boys.
"Our endeavour to retain expertise and map out a compact team structure has been enhanced with Sheringham joining the team this season.
"One of the top goalscorers, and an exceptional player himself, I am hopeful Teddy will bring his fine planning skills to lead the way for ATK."

Sheringham carved out a notable second career playing poker after he hung up his boots in 2008, winning around £85,000 at a tournament in Spain.
The ISL season is due to begin on October 1.
