LA Galaxy struggle to sell out measly 27,000 capacity stadium for pre-season friendly against Manchester United
Red Devils' appeal appears to be wearing off as they prepare to face MLS outfit in front of thousands of empty seats
MANCHESTER UNITED might be the most-followed side on the planet – but it appears their allure has not quite spread to Los Angeles yet.
The Red Devils are currently in California to begin their pre-season tour of the USA.
They face LA Galaxy at the 27,000 capacity StubHub Center in Carson in the early hours of Sunday – but only 19,000 tickets have been sold.
The slow sales to watch Jose Mourinho’s United side in action has been blamed on the ticket pricing for the friendly clash.
They range from £68 to £385, however, it is still a surprise that the venue has not sold out considering the size and appeal of the Premier League giants.
United have pulled in huge crowds during previous visits to the States.
Nearly 110,000 watched them take on Real Madrid in Michigan back in August 2014.
They are due to tackle neighbours Manchester City in Houston as well as Madrid in Santa Clara, and they take on Barcelona in Washington, with those matches expected to pull in bumper attendances.
MANCHESTER UNITED TRANSFER NEWS
Mourinho’s men will also face Real Salt Lake in their second match of the tour in Utah.
The United boss will face the media for the first time on the trip later today at their training base to discuss the £75million signing of Romelu Lukaku.
He is also expected to shed light on his plans for the rest of the summer.
No doubt he will also be quizzed on the departure of Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future.
