Wayne Rooney takes just 35 minutes to score for Everton in first match since return from Manchester United
Striker nets 25 yarder in his second debut for the Toffees against Kenyan side Gor Mahia
WAYNE ROONEY took just 35 minutes to score on his second Everton debut on Thursday.
The striker fired home from 25 yards to open his account in his second coming for the Toffees in Tanzania.
Former England captain Rooney received the ball in acres of space in the friendly against Kenyan side Gor Mahia, and he turned towards goal before curling home.
He said later: "Great to be back playing today and kick the pre-season off with a goal. Special thanks to all the fans supporting us in Tanzania today."
And the strike sparked memories of the goal he scored to announce his arrival onto the scene all those years ago against Arsenal.
His strike gave Everton the lead, but they were quickly pegged as the hosts levelled with a header from a corner and it remained level at the break.
Despite it only being a friendly, it will no doubt have been a special moment for the forward.
It was Rooney's first goal for the club since he scored against Leeds 4,839 days ago.

And he must have been delighted with the immediate impact from the veteran.
Rooney completed his fairytale return to Goodison Park on Sunday after 13 years at Manchester United.
He was allowed to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer and duly signed a two-year deal with Koeman's side.
Speaking ahead of the trip, Rooney said: “I’m looking forward to it – it should be a good trip.
“It’s good when you go away with the team.
“It’s good to be around the hotel with the players, spend more time with them and get to know them more.”
