Premier League clubs already spent £572m in 5th biggest ever window… though miserly Chelsea are £35m in profit with Manchester United proving they have the deepest pockets
English football set for record year with Man Utd spending most and the once extravagant Blues keeping rein on transfers... so far
THIS summer is already heading towards being the biggest-spending transfer window in Premier League history.
The top English teams are set to fork out a record amount with the current figure at a whopping £307.3MILLION.
And there are still nearly two months of the window to go.
If you haven't guessed who is top of the spending pile, then you must have had your head in the sand.
Manchester United are top of the tree, with an eye-watering £105.8m heading out of their bank account so far.
United confirmed the arrival of Romelu Lukaku for £75m last night, after forking out on central defender Victor Lindelof for nearly £31m.
According to the numbers crunched by Sporting Intelligence writer Nick Harris, cross-town rivals City are currently second in the standings.
Pep Guardiola has splurged on Monaco playmaker Bernardo Silva for £43m and Ederson from Benfica for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around £35m.
PREM TRANSFER NEWS
Then come Arsenal, who have signed Alexandre Lacazette for £57m as their big-name signing of the summer so far.
Another team worth noting, in fact the second-biggest spenders so far, are Everton.
The Toffees have committed £91.9m worth of transfer funds so far.
But the interesting part comes when you add in the funds from sales - and the Goodison Park club are top of the tree on that front, making £93.2m out of sales, including the hefty £75m for Lukaku.
That means they've made a £1.3m profit this window.
And despite being top of the Premier League points table at the end of last season, Chelsea are bottom of this pile... because they have barely got spending (yet).
The Blues have stumped up £31m on Antonio Rudiger, but have made a cool £65m out of sales, including Nathan Ake to Bournemouth for £20m.
Other notable mentions are newly-promoted Huddersfield, who have brought in EIGHT new faces, including Aaron Mooy from Man City for £8m and Tom Ince from Derby for £10m.
But spare a thought for poor Crystal Palace fans.
Despite releasing a whole first team of players including Fraizer Campbell and Joe Ledley, Frank de Boer has yet to bring in a single new face so far.
These figures do not include agents fees or add-ons, as with the Lukaku deal (£15m).
