Jose Mourinho and Manchester United security detail ordered to follow strict 18-day alcohol ban in the US
United have arrived in California for a week of training before opening game of tour against MLS side LA Galaxy on July 15
MANCHESTER UNITED security staff will be under a strict alcohol ban while protecting Jose Mourinho and his squad on their pre-season tour of America.
The specialist minders, hired by the club in addition to security staff provided by US authorities, have been warned they will be sent home if they drink – on or off duty.
A source told the Daily Mail: “For a tour like this you can never regard yourself as off-duty.
“A beer is not allowable regardless of the time or place for the entirety of the visit.”
United’s security is provided by Controlled Event Solutions who will look after the whole squad and staff, from departure at Manchester Airport to Los Angeles on the 18-day trip.
Mourinho’s 28-man squad will train for a week in California before their first game against LA Galaxy on July 15.
They also face Real Salt Lake in Utah, Real Madrid in California and finish up against Barcelona in Washington.
United will also face local rivals Manchester City for the first ever derby on foreign soil in Houston,Texas.

Players can expect fans to hang around outside hotels for a glimpse of the Premier League stars.
The Reds are taking no chances in terms of any possible terrorism threat, with regular sweeps of hotels, training facilities and locations where the party are gathered.
Extra personnel will be provide by American police forces.
