Wayne Rooney gets Romelu Lukaku’s No 10 shirt at Everton but will his Manchester United one go to Belgian?
Strikers swapping clubs this summer and could also be trading jersey numbers as Toffees and Red Devils strike deals
WAYNE ROONEY has replaced Romelu Lukaku as Everton’s No 10.
The England captain has been given the glamorous shirt number after completing a stunning return from Manchester United on Sunday.
Ronald Koeman’s decision to hand Rooney the jersey means that Lukaku is definitely on his way out of Goodison Park.
The Belgian striker is set to go the other way and join United in a £75million fee this week.
Lukaku has already undergone a medical in Los Angeles after snubbing old side Chelsea.
But whether he gets Rooney’s No 10 shirt at Old Trafford remains to be seen.
The jersey number has long been seen as the most important in a starting XI.
It’s traditionally given to the most important or technically-proficient player, which indicates that Rooney will be a key man for Everton next season.

The likes of Eden Hazard and Barcelona ace Lionel Messi wear the No.10 for their respective clubs.
But Lukaku could struggle to grab the jersey for himself at United, with attackers including Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial sure to have their eye on it.
