ROMELU LUKAKU will be a brilliant signing for Manchester United if the deal goes through.
He is exactly the sort of striker Jose Mourinho likes: big, strong, good in the air and quick.
He was at his most unplayable last season for Everton when he played on the shoulder of the last defender.
Playing that way pushes the opposition defence deeper because they are worried about the ball over the top or the through ball putting Lukaku one-on-one with the keeper.
When defences drop deeper they go narrower, too, so this will create opportunities for United to get crosses into the box, which Lukaku will feed off.
His on-the-shoulder style also opens up space in between the opposition midfield and defence, which will give players such as Paul Pogba or Henrik Mkhitaryan more time on the ball to do their thing and dictate play.
I feel Lukaku would suit United much more than Chelsea, who are also keen on him.
If he returns to Stamford Bridge, Antonio Conte would have to change the team’s style.

Diego Costa dropped deep last season allowing runners such as Pedro and Eden Hazard to go in behind. Lukaku doesn’t do that so Chelsea would have to alter their thinking.
Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata is more of a like-for-like replacement for Costa and would suit Chelsea’s style much more than Lukaku.
