Lehmann, a key member of the 2004 Invincibles squad is still rated highly by Arsene Wenger, and he believes his expertise and experience can be a game-changer for the club.

He isn't expected to become a sole goalkeeper coach in North London, but will work with the shot-stoppers as well as the outfield members of the squad with assistant manager Steve Bould and first team coach Boro Primorac.

His appointment in the Arsenal set-up is the most significant addition to the back-room staff this summer, strengthening their club on the field, as well as off it.

Australian Darren Burgess has also been brought in ahead of the new campaign as the clubs new Director of High Performance.

Speaking to German news outlet Die Welt recently, Lehmann confirmed his return back to the club where he won one Premier League title, and one FA Cup.
