MANCHESTER UNITED have enquired over the availability of Marca Barta, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho’s sole summer signing so far has been central defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica.

However, it appears he is keen to further strengthen his backline, with Marcos Rojo set to spend the rest of 2017 one the sidelines due to a serious knee injury.

Catalan journalist Gerard Romero reports that United have contacted Borussia Dortmund to ask about the situation regarding Barta.

The 26-year-old suffered a broken wrist when three bombs exploded near the Bundesliga giants’ bus before a Champions League clash with Monaco earlier this year.

However, he had made a full recovery and helped Dortmund win the German Cup — starting in the 2-1 final victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bartra started his career with Barcelona in 2010 and became a first team regular in the 2013-14 season.

He scored in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid during that campaign, before being famously outrun by Gareth Bale for the Welshman’s sensational winner.

In the 2014-15 campaign, he made 25 appearances in all competitions and was an unused substitute in the Champions League final victory over Juventus as the Catalans won a second Treble.

He spent one more season at the Nou Camp before making the switch to Dortmund.

Injuries restricted Bartra to just 14 Bundesliga appearances in his maiden campaign in Germany.
