TOMORROW will make it exactly one year since Neymar extended his contract at Barcelona — and that spells bad news for any potential suitors.

The Brazilian had been an ambitious target for Manchester United, with the Red Devils ready to meet the £175million buy-out clause.

However, on July 1, 2017 — 12 months into Neymar’s contract at the Nou Camp — that fee has increased by an extra £20m to £195m.

And this is just the start.

The 25-year-old’s deal has four more years to run — and there will be another increase in the release clause for the final three terms.

Next summer, clubs would have to pay a whopping £220m to land the 2015 Ballon d’Or-nominee.

With Lionel Messi turning 30, Barcelona see Neymar as their future talisman.

He joined from Santos in 2013 and has netted 105 goals in four seasons.

However, despite the strength of the Nou Camp giants’ sensational attack, he and Luis Suarez have spent their periods at the club living in the shadow of Messi.

It is for this reason that Neymar has frequently flirted with the idea of leaving Barcelona for the likes of United and Paris Saint-Germain.

But he has been assured he is considered a vital part of the club’s future.
