Manchester United to lose out on Fabinho as Monaco ace closes in on Paris Saint-Germain transfer
French giants have been more determined in their approach for midfielder as they eye Marco Verratti replacement
MANCHESTER UNITED are set to miss out on Fabinho as the Monaco star nears a Paris Saint-Germain switch, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho considers the Brazilian a priority signing - despite Nemanja Matic being on his way to Old Trafford.
But according to the Daily Record, PSG have been more determined in their approach for Fabinho and are nearing a deal.
The French giants are eyeing the 23-year-old as a replacement for wantaway Barcelona target Marco Verratti.
PSG are so desperate to reclaim their place as Ligue 1 champions that they will reportedly meet Monaco's £40million evaluation of Fabinho.
Both United and PSG have held discussions with Fabinho's representatives, but the latter have been more direct in their approach.
No agreement has been made between the versatile Monaco ace – who signed a five-year contract at the Stade Louis II last summer – and either club.
But he DID admit he would seriously consider joining United should an offer be made.

He told Brazilian TV last week: “It’s a tempting invitation. I would first talk to my agent, Monaco too, to decide everything right.
“But it’s a great club, sure enough I would think well about it.”

Fabinho plays mainly as a defensive midfielder but can also slot in at right-back.
He made 33 Ligue 1 appearances last season to help Monaco win the title.
