Zlatan Ibrahimovic gives fans sneak preview of sci-fi movie-like statue as Swede hypes up sculpture in his own likeness
Former Manchester United forward says: "The symbol of Sweden is almost done" on Instagram
ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has unveiled a sci-fi looking sculpted head to sit on top of his long-awaited statue.
The former Manchester United superstar has been admiring his likeness in sculpture form ahead of a highly-anticipated unveiling.
He posted a video of the spinning head and neck of his statue on Instagram, showing the artwork spinning in what looks like a secure clamp attached to a hook inside a workshop.
The surreal clip makes the work in progress look like a Hollywood prop, but the 35-year-old seems pretty pleased as it nears completion.
He said on the social media site: "The symbol of Sweden is almost done #mystatue #proud #lifework."
Ibrahimovic has been released by United after rupturing knee ligaments in the club's Europa League win over Anderlecht.
But he was released by the Old Trafford club, who have offered him the opportunity to work out at Carrington as he chases a return to fitness.
Ironically, the 28-goal striker was often compared to a statue at United last season as the club seemed to progress towards the end of the season with Marcus Rashford as the lone striker, after his injury.

Ibrahimovic has also been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, with Diego Simeone claiming he could have a "Christian Vierei-type impact" on the club.
But Atleti currently have a transfer ban in place for the summer but with Ibra not set to be fit till at least the new year, the move could work.
He also sparked rumours he could return to Paris Saint-Germain after posting a picture with his former pals Marco Verratti and Maxwell.
Meanwhile United are attempting to close in on the marquee signing of Alvaro Morata after missing out on Antoine Griezmann.
Nemanja Matic is also being tipped to join the Red Devils, with Tiemoue Bakayoko heading to Stamford Bridge.
