Liverpool offer Gael Clichy two-year deal as they look to land Manchester City left-back on a free transfer
Jurgen Klopp desperate to add a new left-back to his squad and is keen on snapping up former Arsenal star Clichy
GAEL CLICHY has been offered a two-year deal by Liverpool.
The French left-back is available on a free transfer after being released by Manchester City.
Clichy, 31, is now deciding on the contract, which would run until 2019 and include a one-year option.
The left-back situation has been a big problem for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield this season and he is desperate to sort it out. Alberto Moreno is his only specialist but James Milner was preferred in that position.
Clichy, also a target for Paris Saint-Germain, spent six years at City after joining from Arsenal for £7million.
Liverpool started their summer spending spree by winning the race to sign Chelsea youth team striker Dominic Solanke.
SunSport revealed the deal was on the cards back in February and Klopp beat off interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
The Kop outfit also saw off Celtic and RB Leipzig to land 19-year-old Solanke. A fee, probably of £2m-£3m, will be decided by a tribunal.

The striker has agreed a deal under £20,000 a week and will initially go into the Reds’ Under-23s.
Solanke is part of Paul Simpson’s squad for the Under-20s World Cup in South Korea.
He made his debut for Chelsea at 17 but has failed to break through and spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.
