FABIO BORINI scored a dramatic late equaliser to earn Sunderland a draw that keeps their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

David Moyes' side looked to be heading for their fourth successive league defeat when James Collins headed West Ham into a second-half lead - only for sub Borini to save the day in the dying moments.

But the Black Cats are still nine points adrift of safety and know then can ill afford missing out on maximum points in their next three games

Andre Ayew opened the scoring for West Ham before Wahbi Khazri equalised for the Black Cats direct for a corner - only for them to allow Collins to restore the Hammers lead two minutes after the break.

Then Borini came up with the vital equaliser in stoppage  time, and there was still time for Sam Byram to besent off for his second yellow card.

  • Andre Ayew’s opener fifth-minute opener was his sixth of the season for West Ham. James Collins’ second-half winner was his second of the campaign.
  • David Moyes was booed by his own fans when he walked into his technical area for the first time in the 20th minute. Some supporters in the South Stand chanted “We want Moyes out”.
  • The recalled Khazri scored directly from a corner in the 26th minute. He was the first Prem player to do so since Ben Watson for Watford against Manchester City in January 2016.
