Rotherham 1 Birmingham City 1: Gianfranco Zola’s side continue to loom over the drop after the Millers’ late equaliser
Kevin Frei's free-kick looked to be the winner but Danny Ward's late strike provided the hosts with a draw
BIRMINGHAM boss Gianfranco Zola refused to commit his future to the club beyond the end of the season after another dull showing by his side.
Blues were seventh when the Italian replaced fans’ favourite Gary Rowett in December and he has won only two of his 23 games in charge.
It has left City four points above the drop zone and after supporters called for Zola to be sacked he admitted there were no guarantees he would stay.
He said: “At the end of the season I’ll need to say a few things very clearly and we’ll assess the situation. I will be the first one to take responsibility if things aren’t as expected.
“We have four games to play so let’s get the points first and not go too far and then after that we can discuss the rest.
“It’s part of the job and I accept it. The results are not great and I understand it.
“As long as fans turn on me and not players, I can handle it. There’s a lot at stake and they need to be behind us.”
Zola got the dreaded vote of confidence during the week and things were looking up when substitute Kerim Frei fired in a brilliant 73rd-minute free-kick.

But Rotherham skipper Danny Ward’s 12th goal of the season five minutes from time denied Zola a much needed win.
The Millers ended a run of ten straight league defeats but should have won it in stoppage time when sub Jerry Yates somehow blazed over.
Rotherham manager Paul Warne said: “I thought we had a right go in the second half.
“And if Jerry had scored we’d have celebrated as though we’d won promotion!”
