ROJO GETS A YELLOW

Manchester United 1 Rostov 0 (agg. 2-1): Marcos Rojo eats a banana on the PITCH as knackered star struggles through Europa win

Manchester United sub Ashley Young comes on like a cricket 12th man to feed Rojo and hand Phil Jones an inhaler

ASHLEY YOUNG was in the thick of the action at Old Trafford.

But not exactly in the way you might imagine.

The Manchester United sub entered the fray in the 1-0 victory over Rostov rather like the 12th man might do for Lancashire CCC just down the road.

Young came on in the second half bearing gifts - an inhaler for defender Phil Jones and a banana for Marcos Rojo, who was obviously feeling a little peckish.

Social media had a field day, of course...

Fans tweeted that 'Rojo eating as banana has been the highlight of the game so far'.

Both Jones and Rojo have made the headlines recently.

Jones managed to injure Wayne Rooney in training last week forcing him to miss the FA Cup quarter-final at Chelsea, while Rojo escaped punishment despite an apparent stamp on Eden Hazard in the FA Cup defeat to Chelsea on Monday night.

He was more interested in a different kind of yellow in the Europa League second leg with Rostov - the banana, of course.

Afterwards boss Jose Mourinho confirmed that Rojo had asked for the banana and that the club were happy to oblige.

"I don’t know if you were tired any time in your life," Mourinho told BT Sport.

"I was tired many times, I know what [the limits are], the player asked for a banana and banana [it] is.

"But it's not to laugh. It's not to laugh at all.

"It's to respect the players in their limits when they give absolutely everything."
