And Old Trafford scouts checked on the defender in his side's 2-0 win over Aldosivi last Saturday that sent them two points clear at the top.

Diaz told Argentine radio: "Two representatives from Manchester United came to watch me.  I've not yet heard back from them.

"But it is any footballer's dream to play for United.  I spoke with their representatives, and the truth is they were delighted with me.

"They said they would come to watch me in a couple more games."
