Burnley line up move for ex-Manchester United stopper Anders Lindegaard after serious injury to Tom Heaton

Clarets boss Sean Dyche wants a pool of three keepers after the England international dislocated his shoulder in the win over Crystal Palace

BURNLEY could draft in ex-Manchester United stopper Anders Lindegaard following the injury to Tom Heaton.

The Claret's No.1 is facing "months" on the sidelines after dislocating his shoulder in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

It has left boss Sean Dyche with just two keepers in Nick Pope, who made his Premier League debut in the win over the Eagles, and summer signing Adam Legzdins.

Dyche wants his pool of keepers back to three and eyes free agent Lindegaard as the ideal stop-gap.

The 33-year-old is without a club after leaving Preston in the summer.

Lindegaard spent five seasons at Manchester United and racked up 29 appearances in total before joining West Brom in 2015.

Pope, 25, is likely to remain as Burnley's first choice keeper following the blow to England stopper Heaton.

If scans confirm that Heaton has dislocated his shoulder, he is likely to be sidelined for anything up to 16 weeks.

It usually takes between 12 and 16 weeks for a dislocated shoulder to fully heal.

And that could not only rule him out of the busy Premier League Christmas programme, but he now looks likely to miss out on an England call-up for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania.

Dyche said after his side's win: "It looks like a dislocated shoulder and if that is the case we are looking at months, not weeks."
