Gareth Barry to undergo West Brom medical ahead of switch from Everton to replace Darren Fletcher
Veteran is being targeted by Baggies chief Tony Pulis in a bid to add experience to his midfield following skipper's departure
GARETH BARRY is to undergo a West Brom medical today as he tries to complete a switch from Everton.
The veteran is being targeted by Baggies chief Tony Pulis in a bid to add experience to his midfield following skipper Darren Fletcher's departure.
The former Baggies captain, 33, moved to Stoke on a free earlier this summer as Mark Hughes offered him a two-year deal.
And Pulis turned his attention to 36-year-old Barry - who is free to leave the Toffees despite signing a new deal in December - as he sees him as a like-for-like replacement.
He is hoping to complete a £1million deal in time for this Saturday's trip to Burnley.
Barry is set to sign a one-year deal to end a successful spell at Everton after arriving in 2014.
Toffees chiefs are planning for more new arrivals after a busy summer at Goodison Park.
Swansea playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson is a top target in a £45m swoop, with Ross Barkley another potential exit.
