Burnley ready to make improved £20m offer for Leeds striker Chris Wood after having offer rejected
Clarets boss Sean Dyche wants the Kiwi international to replace Andre Gray who left for Watford in a £18.5m deal
BURNLEY want to bolster their Premier League survival hopes with the £20million signing of Chris Wood, according to reports.
The Leeds striker was crowned the Championship top scorer last season with 27 goals.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche wants a new frontman to lead the line after selling Andre Gray to Watford for £18.5m.
SunSport exclusively revealed that Dyche intends to use the bulk of that windfall to prise Wood away from Elland Road last week.
But his initial £15m offer has not convinced Leeds to cash in on the Kiwi international and they are set to return with an improved £20m bid.
The Whites are trying to spearhead their way to the Premier League and see Wood as vital in their quest.
He has already opened his account for the season on the opening day in a 3-2 win over Bolton.
SunSport understands Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen has already made moves to find a replacement striker for Wood, after fearing a Prem raid for his fearsome frontman.

Leeds have already signed 23-year-old hitman Caleb Ekuban from Chievo Verona and Spanish striker Samuel Saiz Alonso from Huesca this summer.
If Leeds decide to do business with Burnley, Christiansen would push ahead with attempts to sign Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
He has been described as a German version of Wood.
