The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a switch for the 25-year-old as he looks to end his Real Madrid nightmare.

He made just 13 league starts last season as he struggled to convince boss Zinedine Zidane that he is worthy of a regular place in the double-winning squad.

But it appears he is one giant step closer to leaving the Bernabeu as reports claim he is ready to reignite his career with Manchester United.

All that is left now is for the two clubs to agree on a fee.

United have baulked at the £61m asking price and feel his value has dropped considerably since Real Madrid paid Monaco £70m for him in 2014.

Big spending AC Milan are also interested in adding Rodriguez to their new-look squad but the 25-year-old would rather play in the Premier League.

He told Onda Cero: “We haven’t received offers for anyone this summer.

“Not Cristiano [Ronaldo], not [Alvaro] Morata — not James.”
