Graeme Souness names Liverpool FC star’s ‘biggest problem’ under Jurgen Klopp

The former Liverpool FC skipper opens up about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's biggest issue in his career so far

Graeme Souness believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s versatility has held the Liverpool FC star back in his Premier League career so far.

The Reds signed the 24-year-old in a £40m deal from top-six rivals Arsenal on deadline day in the summer transfer window back in August.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was initially talked up as one of England’s most-exciting players at Arsenal during his initial seasons at The Emirates.

But the England starlet failed to realise his talent in the English capital and was starting to go backwards at the FA Cup holders.

Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp used summer signing Oxlade-Chamberlain sparingly in the opening months of the 2017-18 season.

However, the summer signing has impressed with two goals and two assists in his last 10 appearances to become a first-team regular.

Former Reds captain Souness believes Oxlade-Chamberlain’s biggest issue has been his versatility in his Premier League career so far.

“Part of his problem is that he is so good in so many places,” Souness told Sky Sports. “He was used as a wing-back at Arsenal, but he wants to be used more centrally.

“Get him used to his surroundings, and the players he is playing with, and there is a real player in there for me.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain made his full Premier League debut for his new club in Liverpool FC’s 4-1 win at West Ham United on 4 November.

The summer signing got on the score sheet in Liverpool FC’s triumph in the English capital.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was one of four new additions to the Liverpool FC squad in the summer transfer window.
