Chelsea told Eden Hazard looks more ‘dangerous’ than ever
Spurs legend Garth Crooks declares that Eden Hazard is in his best-ever form for defending champions Chelsea
Eden Hazard is in his best form in a Chelsea shirt, according to Garth Crooks.
The Belgium international missed the start to the 2017-18 season following a ankle break on national duty in May.
Hazard scored his first Premier League goal of the campaign in a 1-0 win against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium last month.
The 26-year-old netted twice in Chelsea’s resounding 4-0 win against West Brom at The Hawthorns last weekend to take his tally to three goals in five games.
The 2015 PFA player of the year has also scored two goals in the Champions League in three appearances in Europe’s premier club competition.
Hazard’s man of the match performance at West Brom prompted talk of an unlikely title challenge for Chelsea.
Antonio Conte’s side are in third place but nine points behind current leaders Manchester City after 12 games in the current campaign.
Former Spurs forward Crooks believes Hazard is in the form of his life at the defending Premier League champions.
“Eden Hazard was electric throughout this encounter,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“I never saw Hazard as a second striker but that is the way he is playing at the moment. I do not think he has ever looked so dangerous.”
Hazard scored 16 times in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign in 2016-17 to help the Blues secure a second title in three seasons.
The Blues will make the trip to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
