Andy Cole expects Tottenham to rival Manchester United for the Premier League title if they overcome their "Wembley hoodoo".

Spurs have won just two matches out of 12 at the new Wembley and are yet to claim all three points at the national stadium since it became their temporary home in August.

Mauricio Pochettino's men, who went unbeaten at White Hart Lane last season, are spending the current campaign at Wembley and lost their first game under the arch to champions Chelsea before drawing 'at home' to Burnley days later.

Chris Wood's late equaliser for Sean Dyche's men left Spurs five points off the title pace, but Cole believes they will still be in the shake-up at the end of the season.

The former England international said: "Everybody can buy players of a certain ilk, and pay the wages, and pay the transfer fees.

"You look at the Premier League and everyone says 'I'm not sure about that result today'.

"If you look at, for instance, Manchester City the other day struggled against Bournemouth and they nicked a last minute winner. We play Swansea and we got three late goals, so you just don't know.

"Liverpool will be involved, Tottenham will be involved if they overcome the Wembley hoodoo. It's exciting for the neutral, but I honestly do believe Manchester United will be in the mix."
