Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has warned he will not bring N’Golo Kante back into this side until he is 100 per cent.

Kante returned to Chelsea training on Monday after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty with the France squad in early October but Conte opted not to even name him on the bench for his side’s Champions League tie at Roma.

Conte is likely to need his star midfielder back in the side when Manchester United travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, particularly in light of the way Cesc Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko were overawed by Roma in a 3-0 defeat.

But the Chelsea manager insisted he will not gamble with Kante’s fitness.

“After an important muscular problem, it would be stupid to risk it, so when Kante feels at 100 per cent, he will return to playing,” Conte told Italian television channel Mediaset Premium ahead of Chelsea’s defeat at the Stadio Olimpico.
