Fantasy implications of Ezekiel Elliott getting stay for Week 9 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Don’t unload Alfred Morris or Darren McFadden quite yet.

The Ezekiel Elliott legal battle is never going to end. The Southern District of New York ruled earlier this week that he had to serve his six-game suspension, and the expectation was that he would sit vs. the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9. The Second Circuit has now given him a brief administrative stay while awaiting a decision on his appeal of the denial of his preliminary injunction.

In regular English, he is allowed to play this Sunday vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy impact: Elliott is a must start when he is available, so if you have him, you get another week. If you picked up Alfred Morris, Darren McFadden, or Rod Smith, you will want to bench them this week. Morris will likely get some carries, while McFadden will likely be inactive once again.

That being said, the court did not resolve Elliott’s appeal. He is awaiting a three-judge panel review of his appeal, which likely will happen early next week. The Second Circuit is not a favorable one for him, which means he likely will lose and still serve the six-game suspension starting next week or shortly thereafter. If you have Morris or McFadden on your roster, hang onto them.
