The New England Patriots have declared tight end Rob Gronkowski inactive for Week 5 Thursday Night Football, which means Gronk owners have a decision to make. Dwayne Allen will take over as the No. 1 tight end in the Patriots offense. He has not had more than two targets in any of the first four games.

Fantasy impact: Obviously you have to sit Gronkowski. However, that does not mean Allen is the automatic add. He will likely get more than two targets, and there is at least some upside to being the starting tight end for Tom Brady. However, Brady also has Chris Hogan, Brandin Cooks, Danny Amendola as wide receivers, and James White as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.

If Gronkowski’s injury means you need a tight end, players owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues include Jesse James, O.J. Howard, Zach Miller, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, David Njoku, Benjamin Watson, and Tyler Kroft. All are moderately interesting options at tight end.

We would recommend you sit Allen, unless free agency is barren.
