Arsene Wenger has confirmed Alexis Sanchez is "likely" to join Manchester United - with Henrikh Mkhitaryan coming the other way.

Sanchez has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and will sign a four-and-a-half-year deal worth a staggering £500k-a-week.

However, the transfer is still not over the line.

Wenger said: “Yes it is likely to happen. But any minute things can break down. That’s how the transfer market is. These things are never guaranteed.”

Mkhitaryan is set to head in the opposition direction while the Gunners are also interested in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Wenger added: "The wages (for Mkhitaryan) would not be a problem.

This would be an exchange of players and I think one would replace the other. Are we still in the transfer market after that, yes..."
