Zlatan Ibrahimovic is used to being the centre of attention on the football pitch but now he is set for a place on the silver screen.

A Swedish film company are in the process of developing a film all about the Manchester United striker.

The film has an estimated €5m budget and will be based around the record Sweden international goal scorer's memoir 'I Am Zlatan Ibrahimovic'.

Ibrahimovic grew up in the 'harsh, underprivileged suburb' in the Swedish city of Malmo with his immigrant parents before making it to the pinnacle of football.

After coming through the ranks at Malmo, he starred at Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain before joining United last year.

Filmmaker Mattias Nohrborg told Variety: “Zlatan has had an unbelieving destiny; he was brought up in a ghetto where more than 90% of the youth end up being delinquents, and he made everything himself, he’s completely self-learned.”

Ibrahimovic will be the latest in a long line of sports historical figures to have a biopic made about them - with Jake LaMotta, Brian Clough and Muhammad Ali all getting the treatment in the past.

Ibrahimovic has struggled for fitness this season as he has attempted to rush back from an ACL injury.

The 36-year-old has only managed seven appearances, and only found the net against Bristol City in the EFL Cup.
