Manchester United fans were left shocked after Scott McTominay wasn't awarded a penalty in the club's Saturday clash against Huddersfield.

The 21-year old midfielder was picked to start ahead of Paul Pogba after Jose Mourinho said the youngster had deserved a start.

"In Pogba's place is McTominay," said the United boss before the match.

"He's been here many, many years in the Academy, waiting for an opportunity. I am giving it to him now and I think today is another wonderful opportunity."

However, McTominay's game at Huddersfield took a rough turn when he was clattered by Terriers new boy Terence Kongolo.

The on loan Monaco defender crashed into the young Englishman as he was rising up to meet a header inside his opponent's 18 yard box.

Kongolo's arm connected with McTominay's head sending him hurtling to the ground before he landed roughly on his back.

The United starlet's team-mates immediately surrounded the referee but Stuart Attwell refused to rule it as a penalty.
