The longstanding debate of Cristiano Ronaldo versus Lionel Messi continues to rage on.

And Boca Juniors star Carlos Tevez is the latest to add his two cents to the mix, as he has highlighted the big difference between the pair.

The Argentinian striker has been fortunate to play with both, having been Ronaldo's teammate at Manchester United as well as representing his country alongside Messi.

Speaking to ESPN Argentina , Tevez said, "Cristiano is totally different to Messi.”

“When Leo was starting out, he didn’t touch a gym. But Cristiano was there in the morning, afternoon and evening, all the time.

“Cristiano had to work and prepare himself to be the best, while for Leo it comes naturally.

“Those are the greatest differences that I see between the two best players on the planet."

Barcelona's Messi and Ronaldo of Real Madrid are often compared, having dominated the Ballon D'or trophy - awarded to the worlds best footballer - for the past 10 seasons, with five wins each.

Tevez was part of the same Premier League and Champions League winning side as Ronaldo under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

Yet he believes it his international compatriot who is the better overall player.

“Messi plays another sport.

“For Messi to score three goals (in any given game) is normal.”

Tevez's time at Manchester United came to an unsavoury end, as he left the club after two years to join rivals Manchester City.

Since then the 33-year-old has had spells at Serie A's Juventus and in China for Shanghai Shenhua.

His time in Asia has been sandwiched by two spells at his home club Boca Juniors in Argentina where he is currently plying his trade.
