Manchester United will provide Jose Mourinho with the funds to make a summer bid for Neymar.

The United boss has already conceded defeat in the title race for this season, claiming that the best his side can manage is a second-place finish.

"The fight is open for second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth, but is practically closed for the first," he said, though Pep Guardiola has rubbished that claim.

Mourinho knows he needs to add to his squad to compete with City next season.

And according to a report in Spain, United are being encouraged to make a move for the Brazil international by their main shirt sponsor Chevrolet.

Don Balon suggests the American car company want United to recruit Neymar in an effort to bolster their own market reputation in Europe and Asia and they are said to be willing to contribute towards the transfer fee.
