Sandro characteristics adjust perfectly for the Premier League

New Everton forward Sandro Ramirez opened his Goodison scoring account with a well-taken goal just seconds into the game on Sunday, and he wants more.

Speaking to the Echo in an interview, the Spaniard is happy with how he has settled in with the squad after arriving late to training camp following an extended summer break. He had previously featured at the Under-21 European Championships with Spain, only losing narrowly to Germany in the final.

“I have come with high expectations but also willing to work very, very hard and so far it has been good.

“I have had a lot of support from team-mates, from Ronald Koeman and the technical staff but I know, coming from a different league, it is hard to adapt but I came with a very, very open mind and willing to work very, very hard.

“I think I will adjust quickly.”

Talking about the differences between the La Liga and the Premier League, he went on to say that he felt comfortable his playing style would be a perfect fit.

“It is a different game here, in Spain teams have the ball a bit more, at a lower tempo and it is a bit more tactical.

“Here it is more physical, there is more intensity but I think my characteristics will adjust perfectly for the Premier League and, as I say, with help from the technical staff and my team-mates, the league is perfect for me.”

Everton purchased the striker from Spanish outfit Malaga earlier this summer after paying off the £5.2m release clause in his contract. Sandro understands the high hopes of him, and is ready for the challenge.

“I have very, very high expectations of myself but I don’t want to put a number on my targets because if I don’t make it then it would be a failure.

“But I am very young and I am willing to work very, very hard and my main goal is to help the team and then scoring as many goals as possible.”

The forward enjoyed a breakout season with Malaga last year, scoring 16 goals in 31 appearances for the club and will have big Romelu Lukaku sized shoes to fill at Goodison Park. While possessing a different skill set from the Belgian, the worry remains for the Blues that he could struggle as a sole striker in a very physical Premier League, and that another big-bodied forward would be required as a change-up for what is an otherwise small forward line.
