Another Everton youngster goes out on loan

Rising star defender Antonee Robinson will join up Bolton Wanderers on a half-season loan deal, Everton announced today. The term will end in January when it can either be extended or the 19-year-old left-back will return to the youth setup at Finch Farm.

A lynchpin in last season’s Under-23s side that won the Premier League 2 title, Robinson had signed a two-year contract extension just last month that keeps him with the Blues until the end of the 2018-19 season.

Bolton host Leeds United this Sunday in their first match of the Championship season. Fellow Evertonian Matthew Pennington is likely to play for the visitors after being added on loan by Leeds this summer.

Robinson’s move brings to six the number of Everton players on loan in the Championship this season. Sunderland, who have a number of former Evertonians in their ranks, play Derby County with two youngsters on loan for the Black Cats - Brendan Galloway and Tyias Browning.

Kieran Dowell has been loaned to Nottingham Forest for the season and he could make his debut today too, against Milwall. Midfielder Joe Williams has gone to Barnsley on loan and they play on Saturday at Bristol City.

Speaking during the signing of the new deal, he had said -

“I’m buzzing. I’ve been at Everton for eight years now and just delighted to keep that going.

“This is the longest professional contract I’ve signed. I’m looking to kick on and keep improving as a player, knowing that my future is here.

“I feel like I need first-team football this coming season, whether I impress during pre-season and stay here or end up going on out on loan somewhere. I feel like I did quite well last season, played most of the games and that is the next step for me now.

“Every pre-season is extremely important because it sets you up for the year. You don’t want to miss a session and fall behind everyone else.

“Everyone is trying to impress the first-team manager, whether you get moved up for an odd session, you get to go on a tour or you get moved up permanently, you have to be ready to impress. You have to get back in and show your quality straight away.”
