The Championship and EFL Cup will be live on ESPN

Just a day before the English Championship kicks off the 2017-18 season, the US television rights for the competition have been transferred from beIN SPORTS to BAMTech. In addition to that, the EFL Cup rights have also been packaged into this deal, and ESPN will carry the live and on-demand matches for both tournaments after reaching a separate agreement with BAMTech.

BAMTech is a streaming technology provider partly owned by Major League Baseball (MLB), Disney (parent company of ESPN) and the National Hockey League (NHL). They had also bid on the UEFA Champions League television rights which were eventually clinched by Turner Sports.

For Everton fans in the USA, what this means is that they will be able to keep a closer eye on Toffees out on loan to Championship clubs with ESPN’s wider reach. In addition, the English Football League (EFL) Cup, to be known as the Carabao Cup this year, starts in a week an Everton will join the competition in the Third Round, some time in the middle of September.

Sunderland, who have a number of former Evertonians in their ranks, are in action tomorrow taking on Derby County with two youngsters on loan for the Black Cats - Brendan Galloway and Tyias Browning.

Kieran Dowell has been loaned to Nottingham Forest for the season and he could make his debut tomorrow as well, against Milwall. Midfielder Joe Williams has gone to Barnsley on loan and they play on Saturday at Bristol City. Finally, another Everton player loanee Matthew Pennington should start for Leeds United on Sunday
